Receives Approval For Construction of New Inpatient Tower
CHICAGO – Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Midwestern Regional Medical Center (Midwestern) received approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board today for the construction of a new inpatient tower. The new inpatient tower is a part of the CTCA at Midwestern ongoing commitment to oncology patients.
Based on patient surveys and a growing hospital population CTCA at Midwestern determined the need to expand the capacity of the hospital. The new inpatient tower will create single-occupancy rooms for inpatients as well as provide space for additional guest quarters for caregivers, an expanded guest dining area, an outdoor courtyard and renovated clinical space in the existing building. The addition will improve and enlarge the main lobby and provide greater comfort for patients and caregivers.
“At CTCA at Midwestern we have created a health care destination for patients during their cancer journey and the addition of the new inpatient tower will allow us to continue delivering world class compassionate cancer care in a healing environment,” said President and CEO of CTCA at Midwestern Scott Jones, FACHE, MHA. “We’re excited to expand our hospital accommodations to better fit the needs of our patients who travel from all 50 states and internationally to receive cancer care.” said Jones.
CTCA at Midwestern will break ground on the 168,078 square foot project in 2014 with completion planned for the fall 2015.
